Cоmprensión de lecturа (10 puntоs) Lа músicа del Pacíficо colombiano: un tesoro por descubrir El Festival de Música del Pacífico “Petronio Álvarez” es el evento musical afro más importante de Latinoamérica. En sus 23 años de existencia se ha convertido en un espacio de encuentro donde la cultura afrocolombiana y sus diferentes manifestaciones son las protagonistas durante seis días. El objetivo de esta celebración es resaltar el trabajo de compositores (music composers), grupos musicales y expertos de la música de origen afrocolombiano. Como dato curioso, el nombre del festival se debe a Patricio Romano Petronio Álvarez Quintero, poeta y músico colombiano que trabajó durante toda su vida en la preservación y difusión de los ritmos tradicionales del Pacífico. Cada año, entre el 10 y el 15 de agosto, el festival se celebra en la tercera ciudad más poblada de Colombia: Santiago de Cali, ubicada al oriente del país. Allí se reúne un público de trescientas veinte mil personas aproximadamente, las cuales viajan desde todas partes del mundo. Igualmente, en los últimos años se ha propuesto tener un país invitado que muestre su gran riqueza musical y comparta el escenario (stage) con los artistas nacionales. En el año 2022 el país visitante fue Brasil y lo representaron más de 15 artistas. Asimismo (Moreover), se presentaron 44 agrupaciones musicales del Pacífico colombiano, las cuales compitieron por el Bombo Golpeador. Este es el premio (award) más prestigioso del festival. Aunque el propósito de este evento sea resaltar la música tradicional, en los últimos años se ha dado espacio a cantautores de géneros contemporáneos como el hip hop y el reggae. Un ejemplo de estas nuevas propuestas artísticas es el grupo Herencia de Timbiquí, que se presentó en el festival y que ha interpretado música urbana con instrumentos de percusión y de viento típicos de la región. Entre sus canciones más famosas están “Te invito”, “Vive a tu manera” y “Vengo del Pacífico”, las cuales usan guitarra eléctrica, batería y trompeta. Aunque la carrera de este grupo ha sido corta, también ha sido muy exitosa gracias a la gran visibilidad que este tipo de iniciativas dan a las carreras de artistas jóvenes. Si te interesa ir a este festival tienes que saber que no necesitas conseguir boletos. Este evento es gratis porque recibe apoyo económico del gobierno local y de varias organizaciones culturales.
