Cоllege: Cаn It Wаit? Oftentimes, high schооl students feel thаt they need to start college right away, whether due to pressure from their parents or from society in general.  However, many 18-year-olds aren’t quite ready for the rigors of college, which demands them to deal with being independent on a new level; for this reason, many young students do very poorly and end up dropping out.  On the other hand, some people say that students cannot wait to start college because of the competitive job market in our country and across the world.  What do you think?  Can college wait, or should recent high school graduates jump in feet-first? Write an essay in which you argue for or against recent HS graduates starting college right away. Include two strong reasons to support your assertion.

Fаst Fооd Wоrkers’ Sаlаries: Too Low? Recently, a large coalition of fast-food industry workers has been lobbying for better wages in their field.  Generally, these workers make minimum wage, which is not enough to support a family at 40 hours a week in most areas of the country.  They are asking for a raise from around $7.25 an hour to a “living wage” of something like $10 an hour.  Fast food CEOs say that if workers’ wages are raised, the price of fast food will also have to go up.  What should be done?  Do fast-food workers deserve to be paid a living wage, or should those wages remain low so that the price of fast food remains low?  Write an essay in which you argue your position on this topic with two strong points.  Use specific examples to illustrate your ideas.
