Our Effective House Rules To create strong house rules, it is very important to establish agreement that promotes fairness, respect, cooperation and equality. Much like a small nation, a household function best when all agree to a social contract that ensures peace and effectiveness. When there is a diverse group living together, the principles serve as their support and helps to have a stable home. The first rule is to have share responsability. This means that we all live together in the same house so we all clean, do the laundry and pay the bills. This is basicallly what is call the distributive justice. Use the quote sandwich model: This is what in the video " What is justice" says: "Justice as equality, some people believe that everyone should get the same kind and amount of stuff no matter what". If everyone clean the house, then everyone do the work. It's is like John F Kennedy said in is speech: "United there is little we cannot do in a host of cooperative ventures". When you work together, everything in the house like the chores get done faster. For the second rule, everyone in the house should feel like they have a voice. It does not matter if you are the youngest person in the house or not making the most money. You should be able to say whatever is in your mind and express your opinion and ideas. The US Bill Of Rights says that govertment can't make laws " abridgining the freedom of speech", and we should have the same rule at home. Third rule, we have to respect each other's stuff. They shold be mutual respect for everyone in the house. The Bill of rights says people have the right to be " Secure in their persons, house, papers and effect". In the house it means that we need to stay out of other's people rooms, and personal beloginings. We should not touch other person stuff and respect everys one space. Four rule, Everyone should have accountability of their actions. If someone mess up or breaks something, they have to fix it. A mistake can't be ignore. The video " What is Justice" explains that "Retributive Justice is the only way for justice to be satisfied". This means that every actions has a consequences. Kennedy mentioned in his speech that people: "riding the black of the tiger", this means if someone tries to be the boss in the house and do not do anything then eventually it will backfire. For the last rule is about conflict resolution. If there a problem in the house, we should talk it out in calmly way. For example in the rent change from 750 to 800, we should speak to agree on how the new amount will be pay in a calm and respectful way. We should not be scared to speak about issues. As Kennedy said: "Let's us never negotiate out of fear. But let us never fear to negotiate". We should we always sit down and talk like adults and make sure the outcome is fair for everyone from the youngest member who is a studen to the oldest person.
