Questions

Yоu аre а therаpist wоrking in the оutpatient setting at UCMC. You were recently contacted by some of the physicians at UCMC about running a wellness and ADL safety group for individuals with COPD. You are excited the physicians thought of you and that they want an OT to develop and run this type of group. You decide to move forward with developing the group but anticipate that developing and leading this group may be challenging due to the diversity of clients receiving services at UCMC, including individuals with differing sociocultural and socioeconomic status. Please respond to each of the following portions of this question: a. State one long term goal for this group. (2 points) b. Identify group membership and size (how many participants, any inclusion or exclusion criteria for participants, open or closed group, etc.) as well as where you would conduct the group including rationale (3 points) c. Explain what frame of reference or model you might use to guide your group (2 points) d. Describe one activity that you might use with the group and how this would relate to the group’s long term goal (3 points) e. Discuss at least two strategies or questions you could use for the sharing or processing portion of this group (2 points) f. Describe how you could adapt the session activity, or the application or generalizing discussions to meet client’s needs based on the client’s sociocultural or socioeconomic status (i.e. someone with high versus low socioeconomic status or someone with a post-professional degree versus someone who has not completed high school) (3 points) g. Identify at least three ethical or practical considerations you may have to consider as the OT running a diverse group such as this one (5 points)

Yоu аre interested in exаmining аnteriоr-pоsterior patterning in Tribolium,(flour beetle). You do a mutagenesis screen and identify 4 mutant lines with the phenotypes listed below.  For each, state whether the mutation indicates the gene involved is likely to be in the gap, pair-rule, segment polarity or homeotic class of genes, à la Drosophila.     Note:  Normal Tribolium have head structures, three thoracic segments and 10 abdominal segments. Abdominal segments have hairs in the posterior half of each segment.   Mutant A:  lacks segment A1 and in the normal A1 position there is an extra thoracic segment with legs. Mutant a is [A] Mutant B:  Missing segments T2, T3, A1-A4. Mutant B is [B] Mutant C:  Abdominal segments have hairs across the entire segment. Mutant C is [C] Mutant D:   Missing segments T1, T3, A2, A4, A6, A8, A10. Mutant D is [D]
