Themes: Chооse оne of the following questions аnd аnswer in а 10 to 15 sentence formal paragraph. Quotations are not needed.    Question 1: Character and Ambition "In a well-developed formal paragraph (10 to 15 sentences), analyze the parallels between two characters of your choice (Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Utterson, Gatsby, Daisy Buchanan, Nick Carroway etc) and explain how the parallels between the two characters reveal a deeper message about the corruption of a dream or the pursuit of power. Rather than just listing similarities, argue how their shared flaws—such as the sacrifice of morality for status—demonstrate the author's warning about the destructive nature of unchecked ambition." The characters you choose must be from different texts.   Question 2: Moral Complexity & The Human Condition "In a formal paragraph of 10 to 15 sentences, examine how [Author's Name] uses the 'despicable' or 'admirable' actions of a protagonist in Macbeth, The Great Gatsby, or The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde to challenge the reader’s understanding of moral responsibility. Instead of simply labeling the character, argue how their moral failures communicate a specific message about the human condition—specifically regarding the consequences of social isolation or the hunger for validation." Tips for Students: The "So What?" Factor: The paragraph must reach a "Synthesis."  For example, explain why it matters that Gatsby is like Macbeth. Formal Tone: avoid "I think" or "In my opinion." As per your curriculum, they should use a "formal tone and third person point of view." Structure: Even without quotations, the paragraph should follow a logical flow: Topic Sentence, ICE X 3 and Concluding sentence.
