A 12 yeаr оld girl hаs been brоught tо аn OP orthopedic PT practice by her parents. The girl reports weakness in her feet and tripping which has gotten noticeably worse over the past year. The child is a soccer player so she is quite active, yet this season she has fallen once or twice in every practice and game without seeming reason. She seems to trip over nothing and this is very unlike her past performance. The PT notices on examination that the child has decreased sensation and strength in her toes, dorsiflexors and everters. Her dorsiflexion strength is 3+, inversion 4+, eversion 3, quads 5, hip extensors 5, hip abductors 5 bilaterally, ankle plantar flexors 4s. Weakness seems more apparent on the left foot than the right. The rest of the systems review seems unremarkable. What medical diagnosis should the PT be thinking may be affecting this young person?
