Pleаse reаd cаrefully the questiоns and fill оut the fоllowing blank. (6). In environmental exploration, or search and rescue mission, multi-goal path planning is necessary that can be solved by TSP (Traveling Salesman Problem) method. In one kind of real-world applications, an autonomous robot needs to visit a goal region instead of the particular point location. Which method can be used to resolve it? ___________________________________________________________________________________________
Lаrge questiоn - Pleаse аnswer the fоllоwing questions. There are two parts for this VFH question. Vector Field Histogram (Part I) - VFH is currently one of the most popular local navigators used in mobile robotics, competing with the later developed dynamic window approach (DWA). As we studied in the classroom, the VFH algorithm contains three major components: First, Cartesian histogram grid: a 2D Cartesian histogram grid is constructed with the robot's range sensors. The grid is continuously updated in real time. Second, polar histogram: a one-dimensional polar histogram is constructed by reducing the Cartesian histogram around the momentary location of the robot. Finally, Candidate valley: consecutive sectors with a polar obstacle density below threshold, known as candidate valleys, is selected based on the proximity to the target direction. We have the following workspace. Waypoints planned by a global path planner need to be connected by the VFH local navigator with local mapping. The workspace with obstacle course is shown as follows. (1). When the robot reached the current location shown in figure, please draw the figure of its polar histogram (polar obstacle density represented in the polar histogram). Please note the Lidar scan is 270-degree. The probability may be assumed based on obstacle placement and open space. The threshold may be assumed too. The peaks and valleys need to be drawn clearly. The value of probability might be approximated. (2). When the robot reached the current location shown in figure, please draw the figure of its polar histogram shown in its polar form. If you are comfortable to draw figures using computer’s “Paint” app, please draw figures online. However, it is hard to draw figures and diagrams using apps. Alternatively, please have enough empty papers ready on your hands in the exam. If questions require you to draw figures or diagrams, please feel free to draw by hands on your empty papers. Please immediately scan or take photos of papers with figures or diagrams by cell phone and quickly email me (no more than 15 minutes after your exam). Thanks for your corporation! Best wishes!
