Cele intends to open a unit that will specifically deal with the crime and has sent out a strong warning to police officers that subjected survivors of GBV to secondary trauma that they will face serious consequences. “We are developing the programme of having dedicated members of the South African Police Services (SAPS) who focus on GBV because it is difficult to find anybody that understands the seriousness of the matter. But if we train them and we keep them dedicated to this unit to look after those people, we will know that once they gain experience, they will also develop empathy and become sympathetic.”  [Adapted from https://www.sabcnews.com Accessed on February 2021
