She is a 32-year-old, never-married, college-educated female. She is a single mother of a 6-year-old daughter. She has a diagnosis of borderline personality disorder, made by a psychiatrist she saw for 2 years prior to being referred to you. Currently, Siobhán reports co-occurring depressive and anxiety symptoms as well as substance use issues (abuse of prescription drugs). As well, she has passive suicidal ideation and feels that life is not worth living but says she has no plans to take her life. She has a past history of two suicide attempts. The first occurred 5 years ago after the break-up of the relationship with her daughter's father; the second occurred 1.5 years ago following the end of another serious relationship.
