You may have saphophores should your system require those. Define your heterotrophs by their phylums and describe their adaptations and niche habitats in the ecosystem. Define any predator and prey species and if there are any predator/prey oscillations. Do you have any parasites and if so, what are they and how do they factor into the ecosystem? Define your populations as keystone, foundation, - or K- selected etc. Define each term, even if you don’t use it. Define your autotrophs by what phylum they would be classified as in the Plantae kingdom. Are your autotrophs monocots or eudicots? How could someone from outside the system tell the difference? Are they monoecious or diecious and what does that mean? Will that make any determination on how the ecosystem will have to be constructed or upkept? What is the taxonomy of your ecosystem’s autotrophs? What phylum would they fall into? Would they have special adaptations? Are there pollinators or seed carriers? Explain the fossil record that would be found leading up to your current ecosystem and some of the extinct species and how they relate to the current species found in your ecosystem. Determine if punctuated evolution or graduated evolution is occurring and be sure to define the terms. Create a cladogram showing the common ancestry of one of the communities in your ecosystem and the changes in evolution that occurred along the way that caused it to split from the common ancestor. Identify coevolution between your animals species and be sure to define what coevolution means. Is there biomagnification in your ecosystem – define the term and then explain if you have then explain your biomagnification on each trophic level What ecological interactions and relationships do your communities have? Define each relationship term and then describe the relationship.
