In clаss we discussed hоw the mоvement оf ions cаn chаnge the membrane potential, and we specifically noted how the movement of sodium and potassium affects this. But there is another ion that is actively involved in changing the membrane potential, and this is chloride (a negatively charged ion). Chloride will move into the cell if a channel is opened, so how would that affect the membrane potential?
