What does the judicial branch do?
Cooperative Federalism – a view that holds that the Constitution is an agreement among people who are citizens of both state and nation so there is little distinction between state and national powers
Mapp v. Ohio (1961) – illegally obtained evidence cannot be used at trial
chief diplomat – the role of the president in recognizing foreign governments, making treaties, and effecting executive agreements
What are a couple more specific problems the government had before the Constituion? – -government can't pay the debt
-can't pay foreign creditors
-can't pay own soldiers
-government forced to print more money
-inflation and money became worthless
-government forced to raise taxes
-government can't mediate interstate conflict
Interactions – The ways in which the choices of two or more actors combine to produce political outcomes.

New Jersey Plan – Unicameral, 3 branches, all states had the same power
contributory standard – People are entitled to goods based on what they contribute.
Federal and State Laws – Favor the Republic and Democrat parties.
Dual federalism – A system of government in which both the states and the national government remain supreme within their own spheres, each responsible for some policies. ex: Layer Cake
