Right – A resource or state of being that everyone has equal acess to, regardless of their social group membership.

Scientific Method – a systematic, organized series of steps that ensures maximum objectivity and consistency in researching a problem.
Generalized other – The norms, values, attitudes, and expectations of people "in general"; the child's ability to take the role of the generalized other is a significant step in the development of a self.
Interpretive sociology – is the study of society that focuses on subjective meanings people attach to their social world.
Empirical Research – relies on use of experience, observation & experimentation to collect facts

control group – The part of a test group that is allowed to continue without intervention so that it can be compared with the experimental group (page 56)
ethnography – looking at a single culture, participant observation, move in with group
Bureaucracy – A component of formal organization in which rules and hierarchical ranking are used to achieve efficiency.
NORMS – Provide a framework for our actions and choices. Rarely tell us exactly what to do or how to act. May be ambiguous or contradictory. Culturally defined rules of conduct or expectations for behavior.
