Patient reports that over the past few months, she has been waking up twice per month with difficulty breathing and chest tightness which resolves after using her rescue inhaler. Her asthma symptoms primarily include shortness of breath and are most prevalent in the morning when getting ready for work about three times per week. She has also experienced increased shortness of breath around 5 minutes after going on brisk walks outside in what she describes as “cold, dry Wisconsin air” after work to improve her physical fitness. She uses albuterol after walking to treat her symptoms, and she finds albuterol to be effective for symptom relief. Patient reports that she uses her Advair Diskus inconsistently. She takes her dose in the morning before work, especially when she notices her asthma symptoms, and she forgets her evening Advair Diskus dose ~6 days per week.
