Planning – involves analyzing information, setting goals, and making decisions about what needs to be done.
the value chain – The idea that a company is a chain of activities for transforming inputs into outputs that customers value. Consists of primary and support activities.
Administrative mangement – applies the principle of management.
procedure – rule precisely describes action to take in specific situations
Weakness that get in the way of a business – Not communicating, sex, drugs, alcohol, biasses
Total Quality Management (TQM) – views accidents as mistakes or failures of the process
Symbiosis is the ability to recognize interdependencies among the interests of multiple stakeholders within and outside an organization.
bottom manager – responsible for the production of goods and services and rsponsible for groups of non-management employees, concerned with the application of rules and procedures to achieve efficient production, provide technical assistance and motivate subordinates
input – – are the people, money, information, equipment, and materials required to produce an organizations goods or services
quality circle – A group of 6 to 12 volunteer employees who meet regularly to discuss and solve problems affecting the quality of their work.
Mental models – theories people gold about specific systems in the world and their expected behavior
Line Manager – The manager who supervises the operational employees.
norming – During this stage of team development, a division of labor occurs and shared rules of team conduct are established
barriers to effective communication – technical, language, psychological

What are some purposes of goals? – Guidance and unified direction, promotion of good planning, source of motivation, and evaluation and control.
industry driving forces – increase incentive for the industry to change
status quo bias – the tendency to prefer things as they are, as opposed to change
