Prior to the pandemic, Costco performed well due to its consistent collection of membership dues, discount prices, and well-known brands. As the pandemic began to change the retail world, Costco, as a provider of essential goods in wholesale sizes, saw a significant increase in success. According to an article published by Forbes in late 2021, Costco has a very loyal customer base, even with stiff competition from retailers like Amazon. A lack of employee turnover and a selective product mix allow Costco to keep costs low and retain purchasing power in the market. As the effects of the pandemic begin to wane and the retail world equalizes relative to its pre-pandemic state Costco will continue to succeed based on its business model and product mix.
