Write the PICOS: Objective: To determine the efficacy of inhaled corticosteroids (ICSs) in combination with systemic corticosteroids compared to systemic corticosteroids alone in children with acute asthma in the emergency department. Five electronic databases were searched. All randomized clinical trials that compared the combination compared to systemic corticosteroids with placebo were included without language restriction. Two reviewers independently reviewed all studies. The primary outcomes were hospital admission; secondary outcomes included lung function and asthma clinical score.
