You will want to select an experience (JUST ONE) that you feel shaped your current attitude about yourself, positively or negatively, and build your narrative or “story” around this experience. Essay Requirements: Length: 600 word minimum - multiple paragraphs Title: include a title at the top of the page Person and Tense: first person narrator and past tense (you are writing your story from the past use "I" when appropriate and past tense verbs/words). Indent the first line of each paragraph. Also, (if not already set to double spaced) double-space between paragraphs so that it is clear where each new paragraph begins. Organize your narrative into specific events that will serve as your plot: beginning, rising action, climax, resolution. Write in chronological order. Include dialogue (characters talking to one another or talking aloud). When using dialogue, change paragraphs each time a new person speaks and use quotation marks correctly. Use figurative and descriptive language. Remember to show your readers not just tell them your story. Conclude your narrative by reflecting on your controlling idea, specifically stating how the experienced shaped your identity.
