University Hоspitаl is experiencing а high level оf demаnd fоr their OR surgical suites. Upon investigation, organizational leaders determined that the OR turnover process is time intensive. The average time between surgeries in a specific OR suite is 70 minutes. This OR suite turnover rate is hampering the hospital's ability to perform needed surgeries. A PI team conducted an investigation to pinpoint the causes of the OR turnover delays. Because of this investigation, the hospital created a required standardized checklist for staff to use during the turnover process. In addition, the supplies needed to complete the turnover process were moved closer to the OR. These changes resulted in an improved OR suite turnover time of 30 minutes.
