Computer Sciences Lesson 12(1)

Computer location where instructions and data are stored on a temporary basis. This memory is volatile. (Not the evaporation definition or volatile) – RAM
Main memory – memory that is directly addressable by the processor
relational expression – one that contains a relational operator: =, !, >, <, <=, >=, ==
subset of boolean expression
mostly result in true or false
public drawString("string text"); – modifier method, puts in text
Black box testing – Also called functional testing. Tests code without knowing how the program works and just looks at the input and expected results.
– unbiased
– doesn't need knowledge of specific programming languages
– test is done from pov of the user
x no use if designer has already run a test scenario
x testing every input is unrealistic because it would take too much time
x many program paths are untested
Algorithm – a process or set of rules used to solve a problem in a particular sequence
processor – Electronic component on a computer's motherboard that interprets and carries out the basic instructions that operate the computer.
How many algorithms can solve one specific problem? – Many
getColor – Classes: Actor, Bug, BoxBug, Critter, ChameleonCritter
Parameters: NA
Returns: Color (actor color)
Preconditions: NA
Recursion will take place if any of the following happen:I  method A calls method B, which calls method CII  method A calls method B, which calls method AIII method A calls method A
block offset bit – gives the offset of the word in the data block
Health and Safety – Act which covers people from harm at work, ensuring they have correct equipment etc
Operator – A logical, arithmetic or comparison operator used by the program
Recursiоn will tаke plаce if аny оf the fоllowing happen:I  method A calls method B, which calls method CII  method A calls method B, which calls method AIII method A calls method A
reports – You can use Writer to create: Letters, Memos and
letters, memos, and esays – You can use Writer to create:
What are free-form layouts? – Any number of spaces and line breaks to separate words
