Biology Chapter 3: The Molecules Of Cells

phospholipid – A lipid made up of glycerol joined to two fatty acids and a phosphate group. The hydrocarbon chains of the fatty acids act as nonpolar, hydrophobic tails, while the rest of the molecule acts as a polar, hydrophilic head. They form bilayers that function as biological membranes.
gene – a section of DNA that codes for the production of a protein or a portion of protein, thereby causing a trait
molecular biology – The study of the molecular basis of genes and gene expression; molecular genetics.
cohesion – the property of like- substances being attracted to each other and sticking together
Positive feedback/E/ – Digestion, birth-labor
RNA – ribonucleic acid, a natural polymer that is present in all living cells and that plays a role in protein synthesis
Why are plant leaves green?
Translation – the use of the codon sequence in mRNA to generate a protein
dispersion – Pattern of spacing among individuals.
Why аre plаnt leаves green?
red alga – A member of a group of marine, mostly multicellular, autotrophic protists, which includes the reef-building coralline algae.
