What you will be asked to do in the study: You will be asked to complete a survey within the first three weeks of the semester and a second survey during the last three weeks of the semester to evaluate your improved understanding of physics. Time required: Regardless of your consent to participate, you will complete two surveys, titled Mechanics Survey I and Mechanics Survey II each requiring 36 minutes of your time. The total time for the study will be approximately 1 hour 20 minutes. Risks and benefits: There are no more than minimal risks to your participation There are no direct benefits of participation for you. Confidentiality: Your responses to each survey will be recorded and stored in eLearning. Individual responses on each survey will be matched following the submission of final grades for this term. The researchers will not know the identity of individuals providing or withholding consent until after final grades have posted. The matched file will be stored on SharePoint in a folder accessible to only the researchers listed at the top of this page. After matching and prior to computation of learning gains, any identifying information will be removed from the matching file.
