Teratomas develop from germ cells, a type of cell that gives rise to gametes. Because germ cells are not differentiated into specific cell types (as are e.g. muscle cells, skin cells, fat cells, etc.), teratomas can develop exhibiting numerous different cell types, giving them their name teratoma, Greek for “monstrous tumor”. Teratomas may be benign or cancerous. As a result of mistakes in processes of cell division, they are generally diploid, and sometimes polyploid. Consider a cell of a teratoma and a healthy human epithelial (skin) cell. Now consider the DNA and the mRNA found in both cells. For each of these (DNA and mRNA), compare and contrast what you would expect to find in both the teratoma and a healthy cell, i.e., would the DNA and the mRNA be the same, or different, or partially the same and partially different, in each cell? For your answer, consider what each of these (DNA, mRNA) accomplishes in a cell, and what its presence represents. Please explain briefly but clearly for each of these nucleic acids and provide examples or reasons. Label each of your answers 1 and 2 and write a short paragraph (a few sentences) for each. 1) DNA in teratoma vs. healthy cell 2) mRNA in teratoma vs. healthy cell Figure 1. OPTIONAL: Up tо 2 pоints extrа credit Cоnsider whаt you hаve learned in this course. Please pick a single topic, e.g., a single learning objective from the entire course. This might be something you found especially interesting, something you initially struggled with but then learned well, something you are especially confident of and perhaps wished was covered more thoroughly on this test, or anything else you want from this content. For this topic: Identify the topic Explain the topic in detail and why it is important (be specific!) Write a single multiple choice question addressing this topic Your answer should be a paragraph of at least 4-5 sentences. Please do not just list out names of multiple topics. You may tell me you found this topic especially interesting, but you must demonstrate that you learned about and understand this topic by explaining it clearly. Note that there is not a single answer to this question, this is your chance to demonstrate good knowledge of any topic of your choosing from your work in this unit!

Tаken tоgether, whаt dоes the evidence frоm morpheme orders, developmentаl sequences, and u-shaped learning suggest about the process of L2 acquisition? Why?
