In Florida, college credit is tied to something called "contact hours." Basically, one college credit means you’re doing the equivalent of fifteen 50-minute classes. That’s the rule. So, for a 3-credit course, you’re expected to get at least 45 hours of instruction-level learning time. That’s not just something we made up to ruin your summer, it’s written into the state rulebook. Really. Look it up if you’re curious: Florida Rule 6A-14.030 Now, if you were taking this course in the fall, you’d have sixteen weeks to spread that out. You’d probably go to class three times a week for 50 minutes, or twice a week for about an hour and fifteen minutes. Either way, you’d be clocking around two and a half hours a week. Chill pace. Totally manageable. However, this is summer, and not just summer, but Six-Week Summer. So, to hit that same 45-hour target, we double up. You’re now doing about seven and a half hours of class time each week, not counting homework, reading, and whatever soul-searching you need to do to get through it all. Yes, it’s a lot. No, you’re not imagining it. But you’re earning the exact same credits in less than half the time. So yeah, it’s intense. But if you keep up, stay organized, and avoid the panic spiral, you’ll come out the other side with three shiny credits and bragging rights for finishing.
